Neston Business Cheshire Wellness Install 60kWp of Solar PV

Genfit were chosen by Neston based business Cheshire Wellness to develop their energy efficiency master plan.  For over 50 years Cheshire Wellness has been one of the most respected names in the design, construction and manufacture of swimming pools, tiled spas, experience rooms and medical wellness products which are hand crafted within a 30,000 sq ft factory. We installed a 60kWp PV system across two buildings for their site in Neston. The system saved 14.01t of CO2 emissions and was predicted to produce 49.84MWh of energy every calendar year. It was made up of 222 x Seraphim Solar System Co.Ltd., SRP-270-6PB (35mm frame) solar panels split across the 2 buildings with 112 x P600 optimizers and 2 x SolarEdge 25K Inverters connected to complete the system.

During the first full month the solar system generated over 70% of the electricity required to power the factory, therefore significantly reducing it’s draw on the grid.  The business is now looking to further benefit from it’s solar production by adding battery storage so that every watt of energy generated will power the factory even after the sun has gone down.

What is Cheshire Wellness

Cheshire Wellness is a family-run business with a proud history in the design, construction and manufacture of swimming pools, tiled spas, experience rooms and medical wellness products. All of their products are handcrafted which allows them to accommodate anyone’s requirements.

Boys and Boden, Chester

Boys and Boden, Chester

Boys and Boden, Chester

Genfit installed a 250kWp solar array for Boys and Boden, Chester, a large building materials superstore. The installation was spread over multiple buildings on the site and they are also looking to install future renewable technologies from us for their other sites across the UK.

PV system was created on SolarEdge designer so we could figure out how many solar panels we could fit on each particular building as well as linking them up on the electrical side of the installation to connect to the inverters to the solar panels.

The system was made up of a huge 923 x BYD270P6C-30 solar panels, 461 x P600 optimizer and 8 x SolarEdge 27.6K inverter which will be saving 199,277.38 kg of CO2 emissions and is equivalent to 9,121.85 trees being planted. The Energy produced from the solar panels over the whole of last year came to a massive 228.17 MWh.

Brio Christleton Sports Centre

Brio Christleton Sports Centre

Brio Christleton Sports Centre

Christleton Sports Centre, near Chester, is part of the BRIO chain of leisure facilities, and a joint use venue with Christleton High School.

As part of a collaboration with CCEL (Chester Community Energy Ltd), CWAC (Cheshire West & Chester Council) and BRIO leisure, GenFit installed a 59.94 kWp Solar PV Array on the sports hall roof.

The Solar PV system was community funded via CCEL’s Co-operative share offer with the leisure centre purchasing the generated energy, at a reduced rate than from their current electricity provider, from CCEL through a power purchase agreement (PPA).

The array is projected to generate approximately 50.65 MWh of energy and provide a saving of roughly 14.045 tonnes of CO2 per year. The vast majority of energy generated by the PV array will be used on-site due to the large base load of the facility.

We installed one SolarEdge 82.8K inverter inside the leisure centre which was then wired up through the roof to connect to the solar panels. This installation has saved 19 tones of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to 873 trees, making the leisure centre eco-friendly and set up perfectly for the future.

Why Going Solar Can Help Your Leisure Centre

Going solar can really help a leisure centre as they have to power a huge amount of electronic fitness equipment throughout the day and in some cases day and night as some are open 24/7 for people who can’t make it at usual peak times for whatever reason. This means there needs to be a constant supply of power to the leisure centre at all times, which solar energy can do because you can store your generated energy.

Sandbach Leisure Centre

Sandbach Leisure Centre opened in January 1976 and is situated just outside Sandbach town centre, the centre is equipped to provide health, fitness and social activities to suit everyone. They have a wide range of fitness classes, a 25 metre swimming pool, the Everybody fitness suite, squash courts and much more.
