Home Goes Solar in St Helens

Over the past few weeks, we have been installing various renewable technologies for a home in St Helens. We installed a 5.28 kWp Solar PV System on the roof of the back of the house as the owner had a solar PV system already installed on the front of the house previously. The system consisted of 16 JA Solar, JAM60S17-330 solar panels which have an efficiency of 19.6%. We also required the same amount of SolarEdge P401 optimizers to connect to each solar panel and one SolarEdge 5000H Inverter which was installed in the outer house. The system is estimated to produce 3.34 MWh of energy every year and saves around 778.06kg of carbon emissions which is equivalent to 36 trees.

The customer’s solar PV system was installed for family domestic use, mainly for the tumble dryer which is used 4-5 times a day, and their five air conditioners in the house. They also need solar energy to power the two Zappi EV Chargers we installed so they can charge their electric vehicles before setting off on a journey.

Quote from the customer

“Genfit is outstanding in every aspect of their service delivery from first contact to follow up after installation. Experts in their field and I am happy to highly recommend their services. Worth every penny paid. Well done Genfit team! A delight to deal with”

Why They Chose Solar?

Apart from a moral obligation towards our children’s futures in cutting green house gases, energy is central to my quality of life. Energy prices will go one way only, that is upwards. Implementing measures to be as near possible to energy independent is the smart thing to do now.

Christleton Sports Centre’s new 59.20 kWp Solar PV System

Christleton Sports Centre’s new 59.20 kWp Solar PV System

Christleton Sports Centre Solar PV System

In November last year, we returned to Christleton Sports Centre to install a second Solar PV System for their sports centre due to them being impressed with the work of our first solar PV installation. The new system was built on the roof of the swimming pool which is one of the most used facilities at the sports centre. The PV system consisted of a huge 160 x Longi Solar, LR4-60HPH-370M solar panels with half the amount of P801 optimizers so they could connect to two solar panels each. We also installed a 3-phase SolarEdge 50K Manager inverter inside the building wired up to the system on the roof to complete the system.

All together the installed DC power of this system is 59.20 kWp which if you combine the power with the original system installed it is nearly reaching 160kWp. The system is estimated to produce 45.54 MWh of energy every year which will mainly be used to power to the swimming pool facilities such as the pool itself, lights, showers, etc. The system will save around 10.61 tonnes of Co2 emissions every calendar year, which is equivalent to 487 trees being planted.

Our First Ever Ground Mounted Solar PV System

Our First Ever Ground Mounted Solar PV System

Our First Ever Ground Mounted Solar PV System

This 6.66 kWp Solar PV System was our first ever ground-mounted installation and we are proud of how it turned out and are fully equipped to install more in the future. So if you are looking at investing in a ground mounted Solar PV System to power your home, make sure you get in contact today and we will be happy to assist you with your queries.

Certain roof types are unable to hold solar panels so a ground mounted Solar PV System could be a suitable option for some of you out there. If you are lucky enough to have a larger garden or field and looking to go solar you may want to look at creating your own solar farm to produce as much solar energy as possible.

The system was installed at the backend of the customer’s back garden and was implemented into the ground using a drill to drive the mounting kit into the ground. The system consisted of 18 x Longi Solar, LR4-60HPH-370M black frame solar panels as well as 18 x P401 optimizers connecting to one solar panel each which is what we do for most residential projects. For commercial projects, on the other hand we spilt one optimizer between 2 solar panels as most commercial jobs are much larger systems. The solar panels are facing south, so the system can receive the maximum amount of sunlight so it can produce the maximum amount of energy possible to power the home and swimming pool facility of the customer. The system is wired underneath the surface through a pipe system that runs from the bottom of the garden all the way to the house. We wired the system up to the outer house where the SolarEdge5000H inverter and Tesla Powerwall were due to be installed.

The system is estimated to produce 6.81 MWh of energy every calendar year but this can all change depending on what kind of weather we are getting. The customer is also be helping the environment by having this installation as well as producing his own clean energy as the system saves around 1.59 tonnes of C02 emission which is equivalent to 73 trees being planted.

Northwich Memorial Court – 101.70 kWp Solar PV System

Northwich Memorial Court – 101.70 kWp Solar PV System

Northwich Memorial Court Solar PV Installation

Towards the end of last year, we visited Northwich to install another Solar PV System for Brio Leisure at their Northwich Memorial Court campus. The 101.70 kWp system consisted of 226 x Longi Solar, LR4-72HPH-450M solar panels which were separated into 5 different sections on the roof of the leisure centre meaning that everywhere on the roof was now covered in solar panels. There are also 113 x P950 Optimizers which connects to 2 solar panels per one as well as 2 x SolarEdge 33.3K inverters as it is a large commercial system. It is estimated to produce 79.09 MWh of energy every year on top of what they already produce from the original system they got installed by a different company a few years back. They are not just having financial benefits from the installation as they will also be having environmental benefits because of the huge amount of Co2 emissions being saved. 18.43 tonnes to exact which is equivalent to over 800 trees being planted.

We owe a massive thanks to Qwest Services for their help in this installation as they helped our team retrieve the equipment on the roof by using a crane to lift them up on the sports centre.

The reason brio had this installation was to power the large amounts of gym equipment that will be running throughout the day as well as their huge swimming facility which will need the power to run the pool and all other general equipment outside the pool such as lights and showers. This installation will also save huge amounts of money on their monthly energy bills due to the recent rise in the UK.

The image shows two pie charts of the system production and consumption over a calendar year.

Solar Car Port at Archbishop Temple High School

Solar Car Port at Archbishop Temple High School

Solar Car Port at Archbishop Temple High School

This 23.36 kWp PV system is our first car port installation of the year. A solar car port provides cover for vehicles when parked, whilst generating solar energy from the sun. This clean electricity can then be used to power the site of installation or to charge up electric vehicles. They can cover many different designs of car parks which enable them to blend in with the surrounding environment. They can also be customised to have gutters to harvest rainfall. Solar car ports can increase land value and create revenue opportunities for site operators from EV charge-points, branding and advertising. They will be become more common in the near future due to the rise in the usage of electric vehicles and the new rules coming into play in a few years.

This system consists of 64 x Longi Solar, LR4-60HPH-365Ms solar panels as well as 32 x p801 optimizers meaning that for every two panels installed is connected to one optimizer. To finish off the system we installed 1 x solar edge 16k inverter which was installed in an outer power block next to the car port so that it would enable us to connect it to the PV system. The block will be closed off to the children of the school to keep them out of danger.

Archbishop Temple High School

Archbishop Temple Church of England High School is a high performing secondary school in Preston, Lancashire. We they 782 pupils, aged 11-16, and they aim to provide an outstanding education based firmly on their core values of faith, nurture and service.

Their pupils receive a first-class education and their exam results are consistently among the best in the country (in 2019 83% of our students achieved a good grade in five or more subjects, including English and Maths). They are one of only nine schools in England selected as a lead hub in Modern Foreign Languages.

However, they aim to achieve much more than that. The school is a vibrant and exciting place to be. There is never a dull moment and we are proud of the extra-curricular provision that is available in school, as well as the exemplary pastoral care they offer their pupils. As a school, they aim to be a caring place, and work hard to ensure that they show their care to those who are members of the school, but also to people in the wider community. Their staff and pupils raise many hundreds of pounds each year to support good causes both locally, nationally and internationally.

Being a Church of England School is a core part of their ethos. They express their faith in regular acts of worship, but also by providing an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where they make a commitment to each young person to try to support them to be the best they can be.
